Diary of an Old Stinker

Hello.

Although I benefit daily from the thoughtful and careful blogging of others, I've not been interested much in blogging myself, mostly because I haven't feel like I've had anything to say that is either interesting or important enough to send it out into cyberspace in hopes that some pitiful soul who has nothing better to do with their life will find the time to read it. But the circumstances have changed.

As the Lord would have it, I've been given the tremendous opportunity to relocate to the what-used-to-be-small-sleepy-retirement-town of Hemet in Riverside County, California, to take part in caring for the man who has captivated me for as long as I've been on this planet - my very own Granddaddy. Known to some as "Uncle Bill", to others as "Dad", and to yet others as "Mr. Scott", to me he's known as my "Old Stinker" (and he for sure won't let anyone else get away with calling him that!). He's old, yes, and he has the propensity to be a stinker, of course, but truly the name "Granddaddy" captures the essence of his life and his character: He has chosen a grand life in the Hands of his Lord and has welcomed many into his heart and home as a wise, playful, and loving daddy.

Due to his recent open heart surgery this past August, there has been a great deal of concern for his health, and the outpouring of love and concern has been humbling. After discussing it with my parents and grandparents, we thought it might be of benefit to those who know and love this man (and woman) to keep a regular online diary of sorts, primarily to keep anyone interested up-to-date on the life and happenings of the ol' stinker. I'll be updating it as time or occasion allows, so please subscribe if you'd like to receive an email reminder with each update. That said, we invite you to join us on this journey of trusting the Lord to do what He sees is best for each one of us here, as we place everything in His Hands.
